How does TRANE Clean Effects Work?
Step 1 - Pre-filter: The large particles are trapped by the pre-filter
Step 2 - Corona Field Charger: The remaining particles receive a positive charge as they pass through the field charger.

What is the MERV Rating of Trane Clean Effects?
There are many ways to measure the effectiveness of a home air filtration system. You've probably heard of and even seen MERV, which stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, while shopping for air filters at Walmart or Home Depot. With the MERV system, a media based filter is loaded with tiny airborne particles until the efficiency fails to meet the air filtration standards. This method of air filtration efficiency measurement only accounts for one aspect of air filtration, particle capture efficiency. Because the Trane Clean Effects air filtration system operates under incredible airflow efficiency even when completely bombarded by tiny particles, the MERV standard is not an efficient measuring method for this home air filtration system.
What is the CADR rating of Trane Clean Effects?
Another measuring standard for home air filtration systems is the CADR or Clean Air Delivery Rate. Trane uses CADR, which measures not only the efficiency with which particles are removed from the filtered air that you breathe, but also the rate at which clean air is delivered to your living space. This is a much more accurate representation of an air cleaners performance because it not only measures air flow but the end benefit to those breathing the air.
